Do you believe that advertising is more concerned with exploiting the public than informing them?

Advertisements are all around us, not just on TV, radio and in the press, but also at sports grounds, in shop windows and on posters, carrier bags, badges, T-shirts, hot air balloons. Some of advertisements have very useful information, perhaps. But most of them do nothing but tell you to buy. They will tell you to"drink more milk" and "eat more fruit".They tell you what kind of petrol to put in your tank, what kind of soap-powder to wash your clothes with, what kind of breakfast food to give the children, what kind of tooth-paste to brush your teeth with. I can't believe there's much difference between one kind of tooth-paste and another! So,advertising is more concerned with exploiting the public than informing them. But whether we like it or not, advertising is a powerful force and we can do nothing with its influence on the audience.

I think that advertisments never give true information. They show only a bright cover and sunny side of a product, nothing more
